Sr. – Staff Operations Engineer

SUMMARY
Work independently with limited supervision to provide high level of engineering expertise and may assist the Operations Engineering Manager in planning, coordinating and monitoring all production, completion, workover and construction activities within the assigned area. (All work, recommendations, analysis, and presentations should be performed at a very high degree of refinement, commensurate with the title of "Staff")
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Review production data: decline curves, cumulatives, ratios, etc., by well, groups of wells, leases and/or fields. Identify remedial work ideas from the data. Monitor waterfloods using injection and production data. Request tests and data to verify ideas. Review and monitor operating costs to identify areas of needed improvement. Propose changes to accomplish cost savings that enhance the overall profit. Incumbent should use standard benchmarking costs as a part of analysis. Write detailed procedures and prepare detailed cost estimates for completion, workovers, equipment changes and construction to aid in cost efficiency and goal accomplishment. Ability to handle non-routine jobs, a variety of depth ranges, and varied completion techniques. Present projects with AFEs to management for approval and joint owners. Anticipate management questions and have researched possible answers. Presentation should be complete and focused on profit. Preparation of reports for history, reports for management, reports for joint interest partners and reports for regulatory agencies. Some onsite supervision of actual work may be required. Review of workovers and equipment changes to ensure proper levels of profit are being realized. This may involve some invoice review, production monitoring, and cost data analysis. Recommend plugging, divestiture, or changes in operating philosophy on existing properties. Review offset and other property of potential acquisition by the company. Participate in acquisition teams on property reviews to furnish reasonable operating costs, capital costs, staffing and problem areas. Handle special project assignments while keeping normal work load flowing. This job description reflects the minimum job duties for the lower level position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Baccalaureate in Engineering and a minimum of five years of actual on-the-job work experience in oil and gas production operations and the related engineering activities; direct operations experience that includes (but not limited to) workover operations, drilling designs, prognosis, fracturing, acid designs, pumping unit design and waterflood monitoring. Must be familiar with and able to read and interpret rules on non standard items; ability to be used as an expert witness. Able to work with geologist , reservoir engineer, and landman as a team to present profit making projects. Able to test analysis for cores, special core studies, DSTs, pressure buildup, interference, profiles and tracer work. Knowledge in the use of personal computers is required. Some reservoir engineering experience is preferable. These requirements reflect the minimum requirements for the lower level position.The level at which a candidate is hired into is dependent upon the skill level and previous related experience of that candidate and the minimum qualifications for such level that they are hired.
